"They got chocolate!"

Basically all of my trick-or-treaters age 8 or over have been yelling this phrase out to their parents, older siblings, and every house on the block. Heck yeah, I got chocolate. What else am I supposed to have? I know some people used to give out raisins, and I suppose I received my fair share of Starburst as a trick-or-treater, but chocolate was always a staple of whatever house I went to...except that one asshole in the neighborhood who gave out toothbrushes. He was a dentist. But I'm a little weirded out that people are SO excited to be getting chocolate. Exactly what are other people giving out?
