Many Happy Returns

As the holidays are fast approaching, I know everyone is crazy busy, if not with work, then with all the gift buying and holiday partying. But a promise is a promise, and I intend to keep mine, so I present to you the story of this past Thursday's speed-dating event. Drumroll, please.

Tall White Chick, Roomie, and I went to the Fairmont Hotel to meet 40 members of the opposite sex, each for three minutes a piece. It's a circus, people, a circus. All shapes, sizes, and personalities. I will not presume to speak on Roomie's or Tall White Chick's behalf, but I had a pretty good time...mostly because I met Mr. Kirkland and Ellis (name courtesy of Mr. Sunshine).

Mr. Kirkland and Ellis is, as you've guessed by now, an attorney, but I am happy to say that you wouldn't guess it right away...or even after three minutes of talking to him unless you specifically asked him what he did for a living. It would seem that we hit it off pretty well as we exchanged e-mails with each other directly after the evening was over, rather than wait for FastDater to do that work for us. Mr. K&E e-mailed me that night.

I won't go into the details, but after a fair amount of back-of-forth, we met up for dinner and drinks on Friday night. As we spent six hours talking, I thought it went well, but I guess I will have to wait and see if he really wants to get together again after the holiday weekend to know for sure.

Now, I won't divulge any numbers here, but Roomie has some work to do, too! He received quite a few "matches," so if at some point there are any interesting developments, I'll try to keep you posted...with his permission, of course - :).
