The Gospel according to the El

so this morning, i get on the green line to go to work. all seems pretty normal. then as we cross the river, a woman gets up and announces that this train is the site of her morning evangelical prayers. and so she started to pray. so while i thought this was odd, i kept my mouth shut and my eyes on the floor as she prayed the "our father," thinking "s'ok. it could be so much weirder"....and then it was. then she told us that god had told her a word that she must pass along...and that word was "love." some quotation from the gospel of john followed (John 3:16 -17, i think). then she told us that god had told her that one of us on the train was trying to put evil behind us and trying to embrace jesus. and that's when she started going up to people to try and read in their eyes and in their hearts whether they were the one she was supposed to save. um....help. no seriously...get away from me. do not try to look into my eyes. i have no heart. go away. PLEASE? during this search for "the one," the train had stopped within sight of the platform, but we couldn't pull all the way forward. i contemplated wrenching the doors open to jump off, because she kept getting closer to me...and i kept getting closer to the door thinking, omg omg a stranger wants to look deep into my eyes...but thank goodness, the train pulled forward, the doors opened and i sprinted up the stairs in my heels to escape...but the thing is, i can't escape. she could ambush me on any car on any train on my line at any hour during the morning commute. i don't think i could handle her search for jesus in my eyes every morning for a year. oh dear.
