Happy Birthday, Roomie!

Roomie's another year older so go out and have a drink! Not to worry, we will be drinking plenty this weekend! It's Roomie's birthday, and I've been having a shitty work week.
On Tuesday, a partner saw me in my office and said "hello" to me - only, she called me by the name of the other Asian first year associate...who wears glasses...and works three floors down from me...in the CORPORATE department. Yeah. You know, if my firm is as committed to the "Diversity Initiative" as they claim, maybe they should start by getting people's names right. I know we all look the same, but for christ's sake, my name is right outside my door.
Also, on Tuesday, I made a complete ass of myself. I was on the phone with Drill Sergeant Dave all day. He's this very anal and awkward (but very nice) partner who during Orientation herded us from one session to the next all the while hammering it into our heads that tracking time was very important - yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, I work with Drill Sgt. Dave on a very tedious insurance case. Sounds thrilling I know. He was calling to ask me about cases I'd read nearly two months ago now, and of course, I couldn't remember what on earth they'd said. The whole day was a back and forth of DSDave asking me questions; me stuttering back that I needed to review the case; and getting back to him with very inadequate answers. Grrrrrr. I don't think I'm cut out for this. Thank god for coffee and alcohol.
Otherwise, things have been relatively quiet at the apartment - well, we did have one encounter with Caucasian Red who complained that we were playing music at 1:00a - SO NOT TRUE. Overall, settling back into the work routine has been a little rough on both of us, I think.
Now, I know I suggested in an earlier post that I would stop obssessing over Mr. K&E, but this is not an obssessive note, just a quick update. I decided to (literally) man up and ask him out even though I hadn't heard from him. Believe you me, it was a herculean effort on my part. I'm prepared to be rejected...and will hopefully have word by the end of the day. To be honest with you, I kind of hope he does say "no," if only to end my agony. Dating can be hard work, and goodness knows, I don't want to have to be in limbo land again should we go on a second date.
All right, heigh ho, back to work I go.

Happy Birthday Sunshine!!
And I hear ya on the work stuff. Blech.... Currently figuring out how to fake a pregnancy in order to get a few months off.
Happy Birthday to Malek's Roomie! Sorry I can't swing by to celebrate, but Malek and I agree that abandoning my maternal unit while she's here to help me move would be impolitic...and I might get smacked in the head with a spoon!
