Okie Dokie...This Ain't Skokie, Illinois
Voxqueror will be pleased to see that this post isn't titled "Popping the Chipotle Cherry" after all. I decided I couldn't use that title until I was sure she actually did go to Chipotle, and not Taco Bell, before I used it.
My parents were visiting this weekend, and they had a lot of fun, I think. There were two high points of the weekend. 1) St. Patty's Day Parade: my dad was so excited that the St. Patty's Day parade was on Saturday and that he got to see the river dyed green. My mom and he both love the movie, The Fugitive. You know the scene where Harrison Ford is getting tailed and he grabs a green bowler hat and disappears into the parade? Let's just say that I almost had to shackle my father to me to keep him from trying the same thing. It was futile to argue with him that it wouldn't work...because you know, clearly an Asian man wouldn't stick out at all in an Irish parade...populated by tall white men...in kilts.
2) My parents and I had dinner with Roomie, Voxqueror, and Miss Saigon. Um, maybe you don't think getting to see the four of us buzzed from two pitchers of sangria and yammering like a bunch of ducks is amusing, but apparently my parents loved it. In particular, my mother found Voxqueror so hilarious, she said that she should be a stand-up comedian. My mother loves stand-up comedy; she frequently tries to retell the jokes that she hears, but can never finish them because she's laughing so hard
before she delivers the punch line...which annoys the rest of my family to no end. They said that they hadn't so much entertainment in one night in a long time.
And finally, I just want to share that I was a little embarassed to hear that a diamond has now been christened the "Okie Dokie Diamond."
