A Hump Day Story

Roomie and I finally got our act together and went couch shopping yesterday. The first salesman was not very nice. He did not seem to care whether he sold another couch today or not - inconceivable! Roomie was getting so frustrated with his attitude that he almost started hyperventilating. I had to fight the urge to scream in Chinese to the stone-faced Asian man. Of course, then he would have looked at me and said, "I'm Korean, you insensitive bitch." And I would have replied, "Well, then that's even worse! You're doing your people a great disservice." But fortunately, the only place this conversation happened was in my head...well and outside the store with Roomie. Anyhoo, after we were dumped not-so-discreetly by Mean-Asian-Man, Linda showed up. Linda was awesome. She waited on us hand and foot and helped us pick out color swatches for the new couch! So, Roomie and Malek bought a couch from Linda and they were all very happy. The End.

You wish. We won't get the couch until Thanksgiving rolls around...or after. Oh well, that's what we get for waiting so long, I suppose. In other news, apparently on Monday, when I wasn't home, our downstairs neighbor ("Bashful") came up and asked Roomie if we could try to keep the noise down in our apartment. Apparently, something in our apartment on Sunday had kept him up so late into the night that he had to move into the living room to sleep. But Roomie was puzzled; after all, hadn't he gone to bed super-early Sunday night? And hadn't Malek just been doing ironing and the dishes? What on earth could have kept this poor man up? When Roomie pressed Bashful to describe the sounds he'd heard, Bashful wouldn't get specific, but just maintained that the noise from this apartment was really loud and he couldn't sleep. Completely nonplussed, Roomie promised that he would try to keep an eye on it, but really couldn't imagine what the noise could have been.

Ah! the revelations a Monday morning can bring: Bashful thinks that Roomie and I are having loud sex. Heh. Don't worry - if we get the opportunity to talk to Bashful again about The Noise, we will set the record straight. And hunt the Loud Humpers down wherever they may be. Justice shall prevail!!
